Transportation in California

California is the world's fifth largest economy and with a population of 39 million people, it is a critical part of the United States. Transit in California was the subject of the Focus on the Future conference 2024, a series of conferences on Mobility sponsored by companies working to develop solutions to traffic congestion, port logistics, and the environmental impact of roads, bridges, and rail. What was interesting was the mix of public transportation authorities and the private sector. Even though regulation and innovation often come from the investments made from grants given to universities and research institutions, it appears to be true that the private sector and the forces of capitalism drive technological progression. Logic would dictate that the scientists make progress in their laboratories, with the free market only playing a tangential role, but it appears that valuations, projections, and business models are a major, if not the preeminent, driving force behind technology. From the various vendors came novel nuts and bolts approaches to solving problems in highway safety with breakaway pylons, to using A.I. to model traffic, and to investigate sea level rise in the bay area.
General Physics plans to work with transportation authorities and self-help counties across California, as well as to develop partnerships with private entities in order to create cost engineering solutions to cost overruns, prompt engineering techniques to develop A.I. models in data analysis of traffic, and environmental studies to stop problems with pollution and contamination of essential resources. Let's hope to focus on the future, which should be bright for California.
